Giving Our Values Shape and Colour

It is no easy task navigating how Soulshine Festival communicates its innermost values. Be it through words or imagery, communication is a core part of who we are and how we relate as a community. Although this may be the first hint you’ve seen of this kind of work, several Soulshiners have been exploring the potential ahead, and we are excited to show you some of it now.

Gaia With Painting

Gaia Orion is an Ontario-based, international award-winning artist who creates from visions of a peaceful and flourishing world. Her loving personality and acute awareness generate empowering and value-driven art.

Gaia has been a presence with Soulshine from the very beginning. Our first two festival flyers were both inspired by her artwork representing the natural dynamics of space, trees and the sun’s rays. She is also an embodied creativity coach who brings art to the business world and business skills to artists. At last year’s festival, Gaia shared her knowledge through the empowering workshop offering, Envision Through Art.

Gaia is working closely with Anas to investigate this new design language and to inspire our graphics lead, Cindy Lynn in the creation of a Soulshine Festival logo. Special mention to Matthew and Jamison for their contributions to the process.

A Painting Full of Care

The work speaks to finding a balance between body, mind, and spirit, represented by three symbolic inner triangles expressed as red, yellow and blue. The three triangles come together to make a 9-pointed star, but if you look carefully, it’s an “infinity star,” symbolizing the interconnectedness of all three. Each of the points belonging to one of the three triangles represents an aspect of human consideration. For example, the topmost point belonging to the spirit triangle represents action.

The painting emphasizes the inner work as it draws you into the central spiral and outward into the expansionary qualities that come from within. The radial energy moves you around the painting and, alongside the colour gradients, showcases the cyclical flow that results from embodiment.
